Lela Bryan of Nicotine Solutions Talking About Quitting for a Cause
“We are passionate about helping those who want to quit and haven’t found a way to do so. As smoking does have an ecological impact as well as a health one, I think we have an obligation to do whatever we can for the earth, as well. The Quitting for a Cause campaign ties the two together perfectly.”
Quitting for a Cause - Globally
A worldwide helpline has been put in place to celebrate earth day this year. Nicotine Solutions and Earthday Birthday have partnered, in an attempt to reach smokers across the globe and give them ways to help Mother Earth by quitting smoking. Is this something new? Yes, it is.
The Quitting for a Cause campaign is a total support system meant to initiate improvements to the planet. The way to do that is through people. That's the starting point for a program of better global health for humans and the earth.
Earthday Birthday
For their part, Earthday Birthday, in conjunction with Socialtraffic.biz, are supplying the platform from which the Quitting for a Cause campaign will be announced, launched and monitored. The website has all of the information and steps for participation. Being hosted as it is, people know that the connection between Nicotine Solutions and Earthday Birthday is legit.
Socialtraffic.biz is providing the place and means for participants to leave video updates and communicate with others taking advantage of the chance to stop smoking in good company. It is estimated that the Quitting for a Cause program will draw hundreds of thousands of people from across the globe.
Nicotine Solutions
Lela Bryan is the president of Nicotine Solutions. She understands smokers and what keeps a people tied to their tobacco habit, instead of better health. She should. Until 1978 when she quit, Lela had a two pack a day habit. Since then, she has taught others how to stop smoking in ways that are far more comfortable than most of the other techniques on the market. Obviously, Lela's methods work - she has a 90% success rate.
For the Quitting for a Cause campaign, Lela will be offering assistance and personal support. For some people, that alone can make the difference between being able to stop smoking and not succeeding.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is a symbiotic connection between human beings and Mother Earth. One affects the other. Therefore, when people are healthier, the whole planet is in a better place and has better health, as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why You Should Care
The point to all of this is the potential impact of this collaboration. Everybody and everything wins when people find a way to quit smoking.
- People will be free of their tobacco addiction
- Health care due to smoking related diseases will be reduced
- Less productive time lost for employers
- Lower health benefits and insurance costs for employers
- Better quality of life after quitting smoking
- Fewer carcinogens released into the air and earth
- Fewer trees cut (cigarette paper)
- Land formerly used for tobacco can be used in other ways

A great hub.A lot of us could do with this...
Hi Shirley, I don't smoke but I would like to support the cause by sharing it with others. :-) Anything for mother earth...and well there is our health too.
Shirley-
Another great hub. I quit 4 years ago, and I am so glad I did...now I get to see my babies grow up!
Shirley- I have an office colleague who smokes but he already tried nicotine patch and other methods with no success. I don't know whether mentioning about a cause will make any difference? Thumbs up for a nice thoughtful hub.
Shirley,
Great job! #1 on google! whoo hoo . Hey Countrywomen have your office colleague stop by one of the free previews for Nicotine Solutions!
this is a great theme and you put it all together so well. Congrats!
Hey Shirley,
I am going to be making a hubpage that will list a group of people that want to support smokers in taking that first step which is the hardest. Just for listening to a free sneak preview smokers and chewers will get some really wonderful free incentive from people who want to support smokers and chewers stop smoking and chewing.
If you want to be on that list and have a free gift please email me at easeout@nicotinesolutions.com

I support all of you that want to quit tabacco in all forms, because smoking by parents nearly killed me twice. It's hard to quit, but even my father finally did, after 55+ years! Cold turkey, although that's not usually best.
Parents each smoked 3 paks a day until I reached 3rd grade and each went up to 5 paks a day each. Pneumonia occurring with other infections at ages 6 and 16 were directly linked to the smoke. My father quit three years before death and was happier those three years; doctors thought it was cardiac related, but opened him up the third year and found extensive lung cancer taking over all the organs in the chest. Died peacefully in his sleep and never had any pain.
I never smoked because I ate a cigarette when I was 5 and always hated the smoke in the air.
Tobacco users - You can do it! Happy Birthday to Earth with less smoke and cancer!

Shirley. I never realized the effect on the earth that smoking cigarettes has. Thanks for writing this and making me aware. A very well organised work, superior in fact. I had also never heard of the program.

Shirley & Leyla,
Great post. Quitting for a cause is a brilliant partnership. Love it. Good luck!
I don't smoke but I do remember (this is ancient history) buying a pack when my boyfriend broke up with me 'cos "I wanted to do something bad". LOL How childish! But deep down inside I knew it would never be a habit!
My brother on the other hand smoked for years and quit one day, cold turkey. Good for him! I gave him a Far Side Mug with a dinasaur smoking a cigrette and the caption read "Reasons why they went extinct".
Good job, y'all! Congratulations. I may be sending a friend to you!

Hi Shirley, This IS a great hub. Not only that, but it's an example of what can come from the meeting of two entities with complementary interests, viz. Nicotine Solutions and EDBD... Stellar combos, all.
I became aware of Lela's program as a direct result of the Quit for a Cause campaign. My experience with Lela's Introduction to her program garners nothing but thoughts of praise when I look back at it. As it turned out, I was the only one on the call that night, which meant: Lucky me! I had her all to myself.
Not only did I learn a lot, I also had many of my internal theories verified. It was a great conversation that morphed into a 90 minute chat. Stella. My first class will be on the 21st of April. There aren't words in ANY language capable of completely containing the depth of my desire to be smokefree. I tell you, it feels like what I imagine it must be like to be imprisioned. Something else is telling me what I must, can, and will do! Aarugh! Not good. I'll be richer in every aspect of the word when this noose is permanently removed from my mind, body, and psyche. I can't wait!
Thanks, Lela!

Hi ...thanks for the great information and how well put together it is. My father was a heavy smoker (just given them up for Lent...so let's hope he can stay off them!) and I used to be a social smoker...smokers need kindness and support..not condemnation...most of them do that well enough to themselves. Great to see all the support you are getting. Best wishes Anne agw.edbd
What a great way of creating a win-win-win all round! ... thanks for doing this! ... Maralyn mlc.edbd
Excellent article Shirley, even for the sake of health and polluting our planet, all smokers should quit!
Hey Shirley .. great hub! I wish I had had someone around like Lela when I was giving up almost nine years ago ! "Quitting for a cause" gives you so many other reasons than just your own health. So you are not just letting yourself down you are letting the planet down if you dont quit . I can't even believe I ever did smoke now, it just seems so un natural .. Thanks ..I'll be sure to pass this one on to friends who are still trying to kick the habbit!
